Increase Your Sales in 2017

So you want to make 2017 your year? Hit it out of the park and grow your business?

1. Get off your bottom and start taking action

If you want to get somewhere, you need to put in the work. Your results are a reflection of your actions.

You won’t get anywhere if you don’t put in the real work. People say you need to work smarter and not harder. But in all honesty, you need to work smart and hard. First, find ways to work smarter and then work harder to double the domino effect!

2. Outsource

Outsourcing is something people use to cut costs and save time by giving work to third-party service providers. This could be anything from design to scheduling your meetings.

But why outsource if I can do the work myself?

Outsourcing allows you to scale your business and find more time for things that are important to growing your business and increase your revenue.

3. Start Automating Tasks

Just like outsourcing, it’ll allow you to save time on emails that can be automated for example; follow up emails, scheduling meetings or consulting sessions, reminders, emailing out new blog posts, posting on social media, I could literally make a whole list but that’s not the point of this article.

Besides automating saving you time, it can also close more leads for you. When people download your content offer on your site, you can setup automated email sequences that nurture your leads to become customers and eventually brand ambassadors but that’s another article for its own. 😃

4. Produce Good Content

In today’s world, people are getting bombarded with content. Lots of it is crap but there is also a lot of good content out there. The important step here is to produce content that brings value. If someone is receiving value from your content, whether it is a blog post, video or just an image, they will share it. Once they start sharing it, more people will see it.

Of course, you can always create content and then just throw Pay-per-click ads on your content but that’s not the right way to go about it.

The content you create should be shared organically and not through PPC. If you only use PPC to promote your content, it will hurt your brand in the long term. BUT, you can use Pay-per-click ads as an amplifier for your content. Not as the main source of traffic.

5. Get Feedback

A lot of companies fail because they just aren’t doing what their customers or clients want them to do. It is crucial for your business to survey your customers and adjust your business accordingly.

Once you start doing that, you can improve your processes and create products that people actually want to use.

Instead of relying on guesswork and gut feeling, you can now make business decisions based on the data that you have collected from your audience and customers.

6. Warm Up Cold Relationships

In all seriousness, we all have that John Doe we haven’t talked to in years. This year, let’s change that. Go through your contacts and make a list of people you haven’t talked to in a while. You will be surprised how big that list can get.

After you have made your list, reach out to your contacts and setup a time to chat over a cup of coffee or over the phone.

Now, don’t go into the conversation with a sales pitch or anything of that sort. Just ask questions and find out what they are up to. People love talking about themselves and their ventures. Once the conversation is going, your business will come up and then you can lightly ask for referrals.

7. Audit Your Process

Every business has different processes. You want to audit those and see where you can improve it and make it more efficient. If you think you don’t have a process, you are wrong.

You think you don’t have a process because you haven’t written them down yet. If you want to grow your business and certainly increase your sales, you need to start writing down your processes and find out ways how you can improve it.

Once you start doing this, you will save time, be more efficient and have other people take on different tasks. If you hire new staff, they can simply read through your processes and work off them. This will save a lot of headaches and make onboarding easier.

8. Provide Value

Consumers are bombarded with information on the internet every day. They are more careful than ever with buying decisions and hate to be sold.

This year in 2017, we need to focus on providing value to our customers and visitors. If we provide value, gain trust, and build a true relationship with our audience, they are more likely to buy from you.

At the end of the day, people buy from people and not from companies. If you can a build a relationship with your audience by providing value, selling will become easier, more fun, and you will have an audience that is genuinely interested in you.

It’s not always just about keywords, cost per click and reach. You want to build an audience that you can talk to and relate to.

It’s better to have 100 people that are highly engaging with your content than having 500 people who don’t engage with your content.

 9. Use Value Ladders

A value ladder is a way to structure your business to appeal to your audience at difference stages in their buyer’s journey or phases of growth.

Rather than making money, you focus on providing value and then slowly increasing the cost of it.

For example, if you are a copywriter it might look something like this:

  1. Resources (Free)
  2. Consultation ($$)
  3. Paid Strategy ($$$)
  4. Management ($$$$)

Dentists do this all the time. It may look something like this:

  1. Free Teeth Cleaning
  2. 2x Yearly Cleaning ($)
  3. Teeth Whitening ($$$)
  4. Retainers ($$$)
  5. Cavities ($$$$)
  6. ????
  7. ??

Most important, it’s to meet your client’s needs according to what phase they are in. Some people might take more time to get to phase number 4 and some people might get there faster.

10. Influencer Marketing

We all have someone we look up to in our niche or in things we are interested in. When they endorse something, we usually check it out because we look up to them so much.

In 2017 there is going to be a lot of Influencer Marketing. Brands will reach out to people with a big following to make them promote their content and products.

Why?

Because the people following these influencers already trust them. They are the so-called ‘fans’.

Businesses can leverage this to increase their sales. You can reach out to these influencers, give them your product or pay them to either write something about your product, tag you in their pictures, or simply mention you on their Social Media.

Now all of their fans who already trust this influencer will go check you out and if it seems like something they can make use of, they will buy your product.
